Kindergarten had fun learning about weather and the effects of the sun on different surfaces. They compared the temperature of water in the direct sun versus the temp of water in the shade. How neat!

Blessings in a Bag will be Thursday, September 24th, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at the Crocker Elementary Library. Items such as eggs, meat, canned goods, and meal prep foods are available. 💙 Thank you, Crocker! 💙 A huge thank you to Walmart, the City of Crocker, and our Partners in Education from Fort Leonard Wood for their generous donations of bottled water for our students and staff during the citywide boil advisory! We also want to thank Newcomb Hardware for helping us get all of this water loaded and where it needed to go. Another thank you goes to Representative Bill Hardwick, who has been a great resource in helping us connect with additional supply options during this situation and in planning for resources we may need in the future. We have had so many individuals, businesses, organizations, and community partners reach out asking what we need and offering to help. We are incredibly grateful for the response. This is what a small community does. When there is a need, people start making calls, finding resources, loading trucks, and figuring out how they can help. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to take care of our students and staff! 💙🦁

⚠️ CITYWIDE BOIL ADVISORY ⚠️ The City of Crocker has issued a boil advisory for the entire city. Until further notice, Crocker R-II students and staff are asked to bring drinking water with them to school each day. We appreciate our city workers for keeping us informed and working to address the issue. We will continue to follow updates from city officials and will notify families when the boil advisory has been lifted. Please share to help us get the word out to our Lion families!

Our Elementary Sight Word Challenge has begun!! Printed lists are available outside of Mrs. Jones’ room! We ask that your child begins practicing these words at home in addition to their regular classroom work. These words are sight words, meaning that they are words that students should be able to read quickly without needing time to sound them out. This is an activity for Kindergarten through 5th grade to help promote reading fluency and comprehension skills. If your child masters a list, they will earn a candy gumball. When students master their grade level list, their name will be displayed in the hallway on our Pawprint Tracker! This will be on display in our hallway for students to see. Title I Reading's goal is to have all students master up to their grade level list and continue growing beyond grade level when they are ready. Mrs. Schoer's 7th and 8th grade ELA students used Ouisi cards to practice making inferences. Next they used the cards as creative writing prompts. Students wrote narratives about what was happening in the cards by crafting characters, settings, sensory details, and thinking through plot development. At the end of class students were given the opportunity to share their story with a partner. It looks like they had a great time!

Students in Ms. Fritchey's Middle School Science Classes engaged in a measurement activity. Students used various lab tools to measure length, mass, and volume in metric units.

Students in Ms Slater's High School Government wrote American values such as "liberty" and "opportunity" on cards with in an allotted time, then built towers with the cards. They learned that a strong value system and strong foundation were critical to developing our constitution.

Always working hard for scholarship opportunities, Mrs. Carlton has found these for our High School students. Even our Sophomores and Freshmen can apply to some of these. Please take time to look them over and APPLY ASAP as deadlines are soon. She JUST found them.

Today's Cross Country Meet at Steelville starting time has been moved to 5:00 p.m. due to the heat. We will leave Crocker at 2:45.

What a great day for Crocker Junior High basketball! 🏀🦁 All of our students had the opportunity to attend today’s games and cheer on the Lions and Lady Lions. Although our teams fell to the Bulldogs, the stands were electric and our students showed plenty of Lion pride! 💙🤍 We love the small school feeling of bringing our entire Lion family together for events like this. Thank you to everyone who helped make today such a great experience!
