Today, Mrs. Dodd taught our students about Welles Crowther, a true hero of September 11, 2001. Welles was working in the South Tower of the World Trade Center when the attacks occurred. Rather than focusing only on his own safety, Welles helped guide others to safety and returned to help people who were still trapped. Welles became known as “The Man in the Red Bandana” because he wore a red bandana over his face to protect himself from smoke. Survivors remembered his courage and kindness as he helped others escape the building. Each student received a donated red bandana, representing courage, compassion, and service. During a ceremony on September 8, 2026, where President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Welles Crowther the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Welles’s mother, Alison Crowther, shared a powerful message about the meaning behind the red bandana: “In moments when others need us, each of us has the power to choose courage, compassion, and service. That’s the real meaning of the red bandana—to be courageous, to find the good, and to be the good.” As our students wear their red bandanas, we hope they remember Welles Crowther’s example and understand that being a hero doesn’t always mean doing something extraordinary—it can mean choosing to help, choosing kindness, and choosing to do what is right when someone needs you.

Next Tuesday's soccer game against Iberia has moved to Iberia. This is due to necessary field maintenance at the park. Start time will be 5:00 p.m. The game on the 29th of October will be in Crocker.

The dental bus will be at school September 16th–18th to provide convenient dental care for our students right here at school!

Our first Reading Challenge of the year is here! Students are encouraged to spend time in a good book with a grandparent or grandfriend for the month of September. 💙📚 What do you need to do? Take a picture of your child reading and send it to Mrs. Jones at jjones@crockerschools.org to get featured on our "Look Who Got Caught Reading" board and be displayed in the slideshow at our monthly assemblies! 🎺 Band Schedule Change for Tomorrow 🎺 Due to the heat, the band will not march tomorrow. The high school band and seventh and eighth grade band will instead perform at the blue pavilion at the park. High school band members are expected to participate unless they are serving as a cheerleader, riding on a float, or taking part in another parade activity. Seventh and eighth grade band members are encouraged to participate. A bus will leave the school at 10:00 a.m. for any band member who needs transportation. Students riding the bus should arrive before 10:00 and may enter through the back band room door. Band members are not required to ride the bus. The bus will return to the school around noon. Please help us share this update with all band members and families. 💙🦁🤍

The start time for the Soccer game at Lebanon tonight has been moved to 6:00 p.m. The field is located next to Boswell Elementary in Lebanon.

📚 The Book Fair has arrived, and Clifford even rode shotgun to make sure all the books made it safely to Crocker! 🐾❤️ The Book Fair will be open next week - Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 11. 📖 Family Night Tuesday, September 8 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. 📖 Grandparents Night Thursday, September 10 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Come shop for some great new books and help us celebrate the joy of reading! Just a friendly reminder that the Boys Soccer game has been moved to Laquey with a 7:00 start time and the Baseball game time has been moved to 6:00.

Join us on Thursday, September 10th, from 5:00-6:30 PM for our Games with Grands - Grandparent’s Night! All students grades preschool-5th and PAT families are invited to come enjoy games with their grandparents or grandfriends! RSVP forms will be coming home today and tomorrow. Please send them in by September 8th to help us plan accordingly. Please note - the Book Fair will be running during Games with Grands. However, if you'd prefer a dedicated family night for the Book Fair, it is scheduled for September 8th. Thank you!

🎒 Thank You, AUSA! 🦁 A big thank you to the AUSA Fort Leonard Wood Chapter for donating backpacks, clothing, shoes, books, toothbrushes, socks, underwear, and other supplies to support Crocker students and families. These items were collected as part of AUSA’s Third Annual Jeep Fest and will help local students start the school year with items they need at home and at school. The donation also included clothing for our nurse’s office when students need a change of clothes during the school day. We appreciate AUSA and everyone who contributed through Jeep Fest for supporting our students and community! 💙🤍

Frisco League Softball Tournament: Monday-Wednesday games moved to 6:00 and 8:00. Thursday games moved to 5:30, 7:00, and 8:30.

Boys Soccer game on Tuesday moved to Laquey at 7:00.

Baseball game on Tuesday moved to 6:00.

Baseball game on Friday moved to 6:30.

As of now, the soccer game at Lebanon time remains unchanged.
